Triac

Triac is a bidirectional thyristor.
Enable to apply current bidirectional for both AC and DC current locating anti parallel for two complement thyristors.

Thyristor

The thyristor, in its normal state, will block an applied voltage in either direction; but when an appropriate current pulse is applied to the gate electrode, current will flow through anode to cathode thus turning on the power to the load circuit.
The thyristor has a planar passivation.
We have the thyristor of the general reverse-blocking type and the thyristor of the type without the reverse voltage.
The thyristor of the type without the reverse voltage is suitable for an inrush current limiting circuit.
