Shindengen Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan)
has expanded "MD series" of non-insulating DC-DC converter power ICs featuring low power consumption and low cost. Volume production of a high current type "MD5021T" began in February 2009.
In April 2009, "MD5031T," featuring wider input voltage range will be released.

1．Overview
In recent years, environmental awareness has raised, and environmental load reduction as energy saving design for products represents a most important issue for customers. Thus, in power supply market, introduction of DC-DC converters featuring high efficiency due to the switching system instead of linear regulators are increasing. However, using DC-DC converters makes circuits more complicated, as more number of components are necessary. Thus, power ICｓ realizing simple design and low cost simultaneously are required.
We already have developed the "MD series" of non-insulating DC-DC converter power ICs now we have added new step-down types of "MD5021T" and "MD5031T" to “MD series” responding to the needs of lower cost and, simpler and energy saving design.
We will continually focus on development of high-efficiency power ICs surely responding to customers' needs.
2．Features (Specifications, etc.)
"MD5021T" and "MD5031T"are high-efficiency non-insulating DC-DC converter power ICs integrating control IC and main switch MOSFET on 1 chip. The packages are surface-mounting-type SOP8, and circuit structure requires minimal number of external components. Contributing to design of more compact and lower cost , and also to simpler and energy saving design.
